Eat, Drink, and Be Merry this Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Dinner
Selecting just the right dishes for your holiday menu is one of the most important parts of entertaining family and friends for Thanksgiving.

Choosing the right wines to serve with those dishes can help bring all of your menu choices, and your guests, together.

Some guests prefer a full-bodied, robust wine with Thanksgiving dinner. Serving a quality Cabernet Sauvignon is therefore always a wise choice, as it always pleases red wine lovers and pairs well with rich foods.

Of course, it’s best to have a selection of a few wines on hand (and on the table), when entertaining.

For something a bit lighter, Beaujolais Nouveau is a playful, sweet red that feels more like a white wine; it’s sometimes chilled and always easy to drink.

An excellent complement to both light and dark meats, with sweet undertones of strawberry and raspberry, Beaujolais Nouveau pairs well with hors d'oeuvres and main courses alike. Whether you’re nibbling appetizers while cooking or sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends, this annual treat is most definitely one to be thankful for.

2008 Château Lynch-Bages - Bordeaux Blanc
In 1993, when Jean-Charles Cazes became the owner of Lynch-Bages, there were a few white vines, of an undetermined grape variety, in the vineyard close to the main house. For a long time, they were used to supply table fruit to the villagers%u2026%u2026..until 1978. That year, we decided to do a small harvest for white wine. This miniature production %u2013 less than 2 barrels %u2013 was quite successful with our friends, which encouraged us to persevere. In this way, after about ten years, we acquired new experience. In 1987 we planted a white vineyard of 5 hectares, at the entrance to Pauillac, this time respecting the traditional blend of Bordeaux grape varieties : sauvignon blanc, semillon and a little muscadelle.

2004 Chateau Belair - Premier Grand Cru Classe Saint Emillon
Ruby-red. Nicely ripe aromas of black cherry, dark chocolate, licorice and minerals, with a touch of tar. Fatter and fuller than usual for this wine, but still a bit youthfully clenched and brooding, with notes of kirsch, licorice, menthol and currant leaf. Finishes with some edgy oak tannins and bright dark berry fruit.
