2010 Basa - Rueda Blanco

Telmo Rodriguez is one of Spain's pioneer winemakers, advocating native grape varietals tied to the climates and conditions of their sites, and making world class wines from undiscovered as well as known regions. All of his wines are organic and several are biodynamic. Respecting Spanish traditions, Telmo sticks to the old style bush vines instead of the popular style of trellising which, according to him, isn't interesting and destroys the landscape. Perhaps most impressive, while Telmo Rodriguez makes rare and limited wines of astonishing character and quality, his everyday wines have been equally praised and widely recognized for the tremendous value they offer.

This wine has stood as a signature of fresh, floral Rueda white for 15 years. It is a blend of Verdejo, Viura and Sauvignon, but has progressively become almost entirely based on Verdejo, with a touch of Viura and and with the 2010, 3% Sauvignon Blanc. Telmo uses wonderful Verdejo plantings on lime and gravel soils that result in wines with intense floral aromatics, wonderful freshness, and serious weight and texture.
