Description:
The 2002 vintage of Arpepe Valtellina Superiore 'Sassella' Rocce Rosse Riserva is a wine of extraordinary distinction and complexity. Valtellina is an underappreciated wine-growing region located in the Lombardy region of northern Italy, but the 'Sassella' subzone is without a doubt one of the most outstanding areas for producing wines with great aging potential. This wine is aged for a minimum of 5 years, it is made from grapes grown on the red rocky slopes of the Sassella subzone and it is a Riserva wine that has been aged for a minimum of 5 years. The 2002 vintage was a great one in Lombardy, with a warm and dry summer that allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness.
The wine has a deep ruby color, with aromas of red fruits, spices, and hints of leather, earth and tobacco. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with firm tannins and good acidity, with a long and elegant finish. The wine will have an excellent aging potential, so it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
In conclusion, this wine is a true masterpiece of winemaking, a testament to the skill and dedication of the winemakers at Arpepe and an excellent representation of the exceptional quality that can be found in the Valtellina region. It is a wine that is sure to impress any wine connoisseur and will be a fantastic addition to any wine collection, a wine that should rate at least 96-98 points. |
